COVID-19 Health Alerts

Lincoln Trail District Health Department has discontinued the issuance of release letters. If a written document is required for schools or employers, it is suggested that a copy of a positive lab or statement from the testing physician’s office be provided instead of a release letter. 


Lincoln Trail District Health Department is offering free drive-thru testing. Appointments are required.  Contact your local health center for more information.

Type of COVID-19 Tests Offered

PCR Nasal Swab – this is not a rapid test. Results available in 2-3 days.

      1. Must be 18 and over.
      2. Free of charge for those with or without insurance.
      3. Doctor’s orders not required.
      4. Can be tested even if asymptomatic.
      5. Testing may be canceled due to inclement weather. Please visit the Lincoln Trail District Health Department Facebook Page and Website for cancellations.
      6. You do not have to reside within Lincoln Trail District Health Department counties to receive a test.

Once you arrive at the local health center, remain in your vehicle and call the appropriate number below.


LTDHD will no longer be offering COVID-19 testing at the Hardin County Health Center.  However, a partnership between LTDHD, Baptist Hardin Health, and BLUEWATERDx has resulted in COVID-19 testing availability at the Old Sears location at the Towne Mall in Elizabethtown.

  • Pre-registration is encouraged
  • Open to the public Monday-Friday from 9 am to 4 pm
  • Rapid and PCR testing available for all ages
  • No out-of-pocket cost

At a minimum, the state requires independent laboratories to meet the following criteria before opening.     

  • Licensed to operate in Kentucky
  • Possession of a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certificate
  • Enrolled with Medicare and Medicaid
  • Headed by a laboratory director with education and experience based on CLIA level of certification
