Radon
Radon, a radioactive gas that is cancer causing, may be in your home. Cracks and openings in the foundation can allow radon to get into the air you breath. As the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. it’s important that you check your home for radon.
Can you check for Radon yourself?
Radon is an oderless gas with no smell or taste. You can however request a free radon test-kit through The Kentucky Radon Program. These test kits are free of charge to Kentucky residents through grant funding from the EPA State Indoor Radon Grant.
What is the Kentucky Radon Program?
The Kentucky Radon Program works in partnership with the United States Environmental Protection Agency to provide education and awareness of the health hazards caused by radon to the citizens of Kentucky. Led by the Kentucky Department for Public Health, the program works to promote statewide knowledge of the harm radon may bring.
