School Health Initiatives
What is the School Health Initiatives program?
The goal of the program is to establish partnerships with the local schools by assisting with substance abuse prevention, disease prevention, crisis planning, and disaster response. The program is multi-dimensional and impacts students, school staff, and parents and caregivers. The aim is to help promote the link between health and academic success as well as strengthen the relationship between school, family, and community.
How does it work?
Trained educators provide evidence-based health curriculums in the classroom in partnership with the classroom teachers. Education is also available for school staff, including creating crisis response plans, CPR instruction, and mental health first aid. The goal is to assist school systems with health, safety, and wellness concerns.
